Robert Dando was born Abt. 1820 in Paulton, Somerset, son of George & Constance Dando (nee Keevil).  Robert married his first wife Harriet Harper on 14 September 1840 at All Saints Church, Sedgley.  Harriet was born 6 October 1819, daughter of Joseph & Sarah Harper.

 

1841 Census: Robert & Harriet were living at Freebodies, Dudley with Harriet’s parents.  Robert & Harriet had a son Joseph (born 3 January 1841) living with them.

 

1851 Census: Robert & Harriet were living at West Bromwich Street, Oldbury with their sons Joseph and Levi (born 20 June 1845) and Levi Harper (Harriet’s brother.)

 

Harriet Dando nee Harper died on 8 June 1855 and was buried on 18 July 1855 at St John’s Church, Kates Hill, Dudley – Section D1 Row 6.

 

Robert married his second wife Sarah Taylor on 4 December 1855 at St Thomas’ Church, Dudley.  Sarah was born abt. 1814 at Stourport, daughter of Joseph Taylor.

 

1861 Census: Robert & Sarah were living at Wesley Street, Brierley, Sedgley with Robert & Harriet’s children Joseph, Levi and Louisa [Adelaide] (born 7 July 1851.)

 

1871 Census: Robert & Sarah were living at 31 Wesley Street, Brierley, Sedgley with Robert & Harriet’s children Levi and Louisa [Adelaide].

 

Robert Dando died 30 January 1881 and was buried at St John’s Church, Kates Hill, Dudley with his first wife Harriet Dando nee Harper.

 

1881 Census: Sarah (a Widow) was living at Wesley Street, Brierley, Sedgley with her stepdaughter Louisa A[delaide] Dando.

 

Sarah Dando nee Taylor died 6 April 1883 and was buried at St John’s Church, Kates Hill, Dudley with her husband Robert Dando and Robert’s first wife Harriet Dando nee Harper.
